Abstract
Located in the northwestern part of Tyrol/Austria at the border to Germany, the waste water treatment cooperation "Abwasserverband Vils - Reutte und Umgebung - Pfronten" (AWV Vils) comprises 14 municiplities. Except for one (Pfronten, Germany), the municipalities are lovated in Austria. All 14 municipalities are connectet to the waste water treatment plant of the township Vils (WWTP Vils) which discharges into the river Vils. Details on location and the catchment itself are shown in Figure 1.
The catchment is situated in a mountainous area, at a height of 800 m to 900 m above sea level. Sub catchments are distributed along two main sewer lines, “Vils” and “Reutte” respectively. The waste water treatment plant itself is located at the river Vils upstream of its confluence with the river Lech. Seven pumping stations help to overcome elevation differences towards the WWTP Vils.
